The city of Rosario is where the Argentine flag was first raised to celebrate the independence of the country and the birthplace of the revolutionary Ernesto (Che) Guevara.

Sited on the dramatic Parana river, the city offers a great deal of history and opportunities to use the river in all its guises. Take a kayak to the many small islands, view an amazing array of wildlife and to do some of the most exciting and challenging fishing in Argentina.

The river runs for 4,880 kilometers and is second in length only to the Amazon among south American rivers.

When completed in 1984 the Itaipu Dam was one of the biggest in the world, in 1994 named by the Society of Civil engineers as one of the Seven Wonders of the World and in 2016 produced more electricity than any other dam. It is well worth a visit to see the scale and impressive power of this Argentine/Brazilian joint venture.
